SLU LIVERY ATTENDANT 

Full oR PART-TIME SEASONAL POSITION

Reports to:  Livery Manager

Hours:  40 hours/week

Type:  Full or Part Time Seasonal. Mid-April - End of September

Compensation:  $20/hour

 

Scope of Responsibility

The Livery Attendant is responsible for the safe and functional operation of CWB’s rental boats including rowboats, sailboats, canoes, kayaks, and any other human powered boats available. The Livery Attendant reports to the designated on-site livery lead.  The attendant position will work with other staff and volunteers to provide a safe and educational visitor experience to our customers and community members.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

·         Helping customers choose an appropriate boat.

·         Assisting in rigging or rowing instruction if needed.

·         Recognizing, and correcting unsafe operating practices.

·         Operating a motorized safety boat

·         Responding to on-the-water emergencies.

·         Help with boat and facilities maintenance.

·         Check boats out, in, and take payments for the rental.

·         Operating within CWB’s Safety Management System.

·         Share the history of CWB’s small craft with the public.

·         Assist in supervision and training of Livery volunteers.

·         Assist with the set up and take down of events like Public Sail, and regattas.

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Washington State Boaters Card (NASBLA), OUPV or Masters license

  • USCG approved First Aid certification.

  • Familiarity with boating safety and powerboat operation.

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Stand and walk on uneven surfaces, bend and reach on boats and dock safely and be able to modify as needed to keep safe.

Preferred

  • Sailing experience/ knowledge of handling small boats.

  • Experience driving/handling small motorboats.

  • Customer Service experience.

  • Woodworking/boat maintenance skills.
