Kate Chapman
Youth CURRICULUM Manager
“My professional career has always been about the pursuit of joy in learning, which is honestly a struggle in some places dedicated to education. CWB has been a bright exception to that, fostering fun, engaging, transformative experiences for youth and adults alike for decades now. And for me there’s nothing like time in the woodshop or on the water to refresh the soul. This is truly an inspiring place and community, and one I hope to be part of into the indefinite future.”
After years as an academic tutor, in 2013 Kate Chapman began leading field trips at CWB and found a new evolution of her passion for working with students. A lifelong Seattle sailor, she loved being able to bring together the joy of being on the water with the excitement of learning about how it all works. After spending (too much) time in graduate school studying current theories about learning in museums and other informal settings, she is back in Seattle working with CWB to update our curriculum for students and teachers. In her off-hours, expect to find her playing the ukulele, learning new crafts like marlinspike and macrame, or just hanging out with her two cats.
