ADULT WOODWORKING INSTRUCTOR


Reports To: Woodworking Programs Manager

Hours: Weekend and Evening Classes

Type: Part Time

Compensation: $200-$500 (depending on the class)

Program Overview: 

The Center for Wooden Boats promotes Northwest Maritime Heritage through education, interpretation, and hands-on experience. Our woodworking classes are expanding.  We would like to hire experienced woodworking instructors for teaching on weekends and evenings.   While we have set classes, we are also open to new ideas for classes from you!  Class skill level is beginning to intermediate (bird houses to dovetail chests).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow lesson plans

  • Familiarity with hand and power tools common to woodworking

  • Teach and monitor best safety practices in a wood shop.

  • Manage multiple people on woodworking class projects.

  • 2+ years of woodworking experience

  • Ability to follow build plans.

  • Patient, reliable, and has a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience teaching

  • Able to lift light to medium weight (20-50 lbs) solo and/or heavy objects (50-100 lbs) with assistance.
