Youth Program Philosophy
The Center for Wooden Boats supports youth as they develop the skills, abilities and attitudes necessary to enjoy life and contribute to the community. Programs target age-appropriate skill sets and are designed to build on each other so youth can come back summer after summer to play, learn and grow.
Toy Boat Building & Field Trips
Young kids learn how to use hand tools and discover the joys of being out on the water. Field trips align with state standards in history, social studies, math, science, and fitness.
Youth Boatbuilding & Sailing Camps
Youth Sailing and Boatbuilding programs are designed to engender skills in leadership, observation and decision-making while exploring maritime heritage and skills in a dynamic hands-on environment.
Youth Development & Service Learning
Youth development and service learning programs focus on leadership, teamwork and communication skills while having fun and gaining technical skill in sailing, rowing or paddling.
