CWB on the Radio

Between 1980 and 1983, Dick Wagner worked with Seattle’s Jack Straw Foundation to produce a series of shows about wooden boats, boat building, and the history of northwest boatbuilding that aired on the foundation’s KRAB Community Radio station.  KRAB went off the air in 1984, but The Center for Wooden Boats, in cooperation with the Jack Straw Foundation is taking the tapes of The Wooden Boat Show  and beginning the process of posting them online, so anyone with an internet connection and a computer can listen to the shows again and learn tips from the topics Dick used in CWB’s early days.

Oral Histories

CWB has worked with local researchers to create an oral history of the craft of wooden boat building on Lake Union and the waters connected to Seattle and Puget Sound.   That survey included some of the last wooden boat builders from the old shops that used to ring Lake Union and some new wooden boat builders carrying the craft forward.  These are their stories:
