Celebrating Dick Wagner
Just a reminder: we will be celebrating the life of CWB’s late Founder, Dick Wagner, this Sunday, May 21st. The event will begin at 3 pm with a reception in the Boathouse at South Lake Union. The Wagner family will be present and there will be a memory book for written messages and a bulletin board for photos, pre-written stories, poems or whatever other things you want the family to have.
You are welcome to bring finger food for stand-up consumption. There just won’t be room for tables or chairs inside the Boathouse. Loading for the flotilla that will travel by The Old Boathouse – Dick and Colleen Wagner’s home, where the idea of CWB first began – will start about 4:30 pm. If you have not yet requested a space on the boats – including the Virginia V, M/V Lotus and Northwest Seaport’s Tordenskjold, as well as select CWB vessels and participants in our Contributing Vessel program – you can request stand-by space by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “stand-by”. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Personal boats are welcome to join the flotilla by reservation. Please email email@example.com with the subject line “Flotilla Boat Request”. Please note that space is limited, and we cannot accommodate all boats. Moorage may be available on a first-come, first-served basis on the West Wall at Lake Union Park.
The schedule is:
|3pm||Boathouse opens for reception. Finger food accepted for standing potluck.|
|4:30pm||Boarding for flotilla.|
|5pm||Flotilla departs CWB to sail by The Old Boathouse.|
|7pm||Last vessel returns to CWB; Open House resumes|
We look forward to having you join us for this special evening to celebrate Dick’s life and legacy. We have this community because of his vision, and we’re honored to carry on his dream with you.
Dick Wagner’s family would like to thank our community for your support in this hard time. In lieu of flowers, they have asked that donations be made to The Center for Wooden Boats. Donations can be made online, over the phone or in person. Please include “Dick Wagner Memorial” in memo or notes line.
