“The Sailmaker’s Apprentice” – Emiliano Marino
For more than four decades, each month CWB has presented a speaker of wit and experience to talk about his or her special knowledge. It is also an opportunity for CWB members to meet one another and the staff. The program runs from 7pm to 9pm, with opportunities to ask questions. April’s 3rd Friday presentation will be held on April 21st.
Twenty years after it first was published, The Sailmaker’s Apprentice still is recognized around the world as a thoughtful and thorough sailmaking guide. Its author, Emiliano Marino, will share his knowledge and experience with our 3rd Friday audience.
His knowledge of sailmaking the traditional way is extensive so our program promises to be an evening of skills, tools and gear for the self-reliant and resourceful sailor.
Emiliano has been a contributing writer to WoodenBoat magazine and to the CWB publication Shavings. He currently writes a column, “The Artful Sailor”, in Small Craft Advisor magazine.
He has a long connection with The Center for Wooden Boats. In the 1980s Emiliano taught classes at CWB and gave demonstrations on sailmaking, and he has collaborated on other projects with CWB Founding Director Dick Wagner.
Copies of The Sailmaker’s Apprentice will be available for purchase. As always the program is free and light refreshments will be available; donations to cover costs are always appreciated.
