Youth Camp Registration Open
Registration for our youth summer camps is now open, and we have exciting new additions!
In 2016 we’ll be offering Beginning Sailing camps on the Eastside! In between our South Lake Union schedule, we’ll also be teaching an introduction to sailing in Medina and Newcastle. New sailors will learn basic theory and terminology of sailing to build a foundation of skills: tacking, jibing, sail trim, weight balance and capsize recovery.
Along with our sailing camps, we’re adding an Introduction to Motor Boating camp, where students will learn the basics of handling and maintaining small motorboats. This class will teach young boaters the safe and efficient way to operate, dock and take care of a variety of small craft motors.
In the skills focus, we’ve brought back our Youth Canoe Building camp by popular demand, and added a Youth Design/Build camp. In this camp, students will learn to design and build their own small woodworking projects with hand tools.
All of our camps are designed to engender skills in leadership, observation, and decision-making while exploring maritime heritage in a dynamic hands-on environment. Our talented and dedicated team of instructors are US sailing, First Aid and CPR Certified. They are trained and experienced in working with youth to ensure safety and best practices on-the-water and in the shop.
We list “suggested” prices because we want to make hands-on experiences available to everyone. If you require a discounted program, scholarship forms are available here. If you are in a position to pay more than the suggested price, additional funds will contribute directly to make youth programs more widely accessible.
