4Culture Grant Project: A History of Lake Union

We were recently awarded a grant by 4Culture as part of the Heritage Project:

Heritage 4Culture advances the work of King County communities in building the historical record, preserving and enhancing the character of the region, and sharing local heritage resources with residents, visitors, and future generations.

Our approved project is a small, interpretive book of Lake Union blending historical photos with present day images along with descriptive narrative. The intended use is to provide interesting and factual hard content to supplement “Cast Off”, the free public sail program offered every Sunday by The Center for Wooden Boats.

We’re excited to announce that this flipbook is complete, and will be in use on upcoming Public Sail rides! Volunteer skippers, crew, docents, staff and guests will have access to the flip book as part of enhancing their knowledge and engagement with the history and tours of Lake Union.

Big thanks to the following contributors, without whom this project would not have been possible:

  • Project Curator, Alan Weymiller
  • Graphic Designer, Madisen Semet
  • Grant Supporter, 4Culture Heritage Project
